Born in 1968 in England, David has always had a love and deep connection with water. He started sailing at the age of 10 and then started to race Lasers and 505’s, before become a sailing instructor and then crewing on larger boats. After a number of years competing in duathlon, David fell in love with stand up paddleboarding, which evolved into the idea of building a better paddle. This was the birth of Blackfish Paddles. Today Blackfish is a niche paddle brand with a very loyal following that is sold around the world. In Canada, Blackfish is a distribution company that sells the company’s paddles as well as surf, SUP and foil gear through a dedicated network of retailers and also direct to consumer.

David remains active in the shipping industry, running a consulting and proprietary trading business.
